Below is a list of mentors that will be sharing their expertise with you during this year’s Speed Mentoring Session.
Ahmed Siddiqui is a Product Manager for Marqeta, Inc., a FinTech startup in the Bay Area. He’s built a wide range of products from children’s iPhone apps to Data Analysis and Reporting tools. He loves helping entrepreneurs build amazing products and getting them to market using Lean Startup Methodologies.
Amparo Diaz is a Silicon Valley entrepreneur head of business development and product design for Namwil, where she develops for IoT, ecommerce and healthtech; she is also a storyteller currently working on a memoir.
Bill Mosca is a founding partner in Accountiful, a provider of nimble back office accounting and finance services to visionary small businesses. He has managed a variety of for-profit and nonprofit teams with focus on software engineering, finance, and association management. Bill currently serves on the board of the California Institute of Integral Studies (CIIS) in San Francisco.
Cecily Wilson is a founding partner of Accountiful, a provider of nimble back-office accounting and finance services to visionary small businesses. She has more than 15 years of experience as a full-charge bookkeeper, controller and QuickBooks ProAdvisor.
Che Voigt is a successful serial hardware CEO and angel investor. Che Voigt is a founder and President of Altwork. This startup is developing integrated furniture for digital professionals who use the computer as their primary creative tool. This company is founded on the idea that modern computers no longer need to be treated like typewriters and adding machines from a 100 years ago.
From 2005 to 2010, Che served as President of L-3 Communications, Sonoma EO, this division of L-3 markets, designs, produces and services ultra high performance stabilized imaging systems The division was formed in 2005. It was a unique merger of an existing L-3 division (Wescam-Sonoma) and a company that Che and his partners founded (Sonoma Design Group). Che, Al Voigt and John Speicher founded SDG. At the end of 1999, Che took over as President. The company developed its product and team rapidly, becoming a strategic acquisition in just 5 years.
Che began his career in aerospace at Versatron Corporation a company started out in his father’s garage and over the next 10 years became an innovation-driven aerospace development firm.
Che has been an active member of the North Bay Angel investment group starting in 1998 and currently serves as the Chair of its board of directors. Che has an active angel investor since 2005.

Deb is an Internet industry veteran who merges expertise in design, marketing and innovation to bring fresh approaches to business. She is widely recognized for her practical understanding of the dynamics of the social web and its impact on culture, society and business. She is a sought after speaker and consultant working with both Fortune 50 CEO’s and early stage startups.

Galia is a business lawyer and founder of Aharoni Business Law, PC. She enjoys helping people turn their entrepreneurial dreams into reality by drafting their business-startup documents, protecting their intellectual property, and preventing potential employee/independent contractor problems.
She is a published author on intellectual property issues surrounding moral rights, and regularly speaks throughout Northern California on a variety of legal and business issues for lawyers and entrepreneurs.
She graduated from Tulane University School of Law with a certificate in environmental law, and currently has licenses to practice law in both California and Louisiana. Prior to founding ABL, Galia was a founding partner of a Bay Area-based multi-lawyer business law firm, was an attorney at private law firms in both New Orleans and Oakland, and was a business development attorney at a legal publisher in Northern California.
When not working, she can be found hanging out with her dog, coffee-shop hopping, reading, or collecting hobbies. A few of her favorite hobbies so far include belly dancing, glass flameworking, and floating in sensory deprivation tanks.
Gary Swart is a Venture Partner with Polaris Partners and previously was the CEO of oDesk. Gary has spoken at the Inc. Leadership, Economist’s Ideas Economy Conference, SXSW, TechCrunch 50, TiECon, and at Harvard Business School. His commentary has appeared in Forbes, TechCrunch, The Washington Post and The Next Web. Previously, Gary led sales for IBM’s Rational Software, and was VP of Worldwide Sales at Intellibank. Gary holds a B.S. from the University of Maryland.
Geraldine Convento’s work in marketing and business started from the ground up, handling guerilla marketing campaigns for independent and mainstream record labels and leading street teams in the 90’s for companies such as: Virgin Records, Tommy Boy, and Warner Brothers, to being a self-managed touring musician known as, “Realism*”.
She later moved on to become a Marketing Director for a San Francisco based record label, attended business school, then obtained leadership positions within the advertising and event planning industries.
Unafraid to think outside the box, Geraldine chose to explore the world of entrepreneurship building businesses in the film, entertainment, online retail and restaurant industries.
In 2009, Geraldine launched, MeetGeraldine as a website development company. Little did she know that the company would grow into being a team responsible to full-service business, marketing and design campaigns internationally.
Her experiences in the corporate world and working within small organizations led to her understand the importance of structure, timelines and completing specific tasks to contribute to larger business objectives. All of which have informed her outlook of what’s possible in the realms of business. Anything.
Her latest personal projects include a motivational quotes website called, Quote-Aholic and a YouTube channel which displays her old concert footage, computer tutorials and other views on life.
Originally from Houston, Texas, Jesse found his way to San Francisco in March 1997 where he first experienced what it meant to work for a startup. As employee 27, he got to see firsthand the building of a Silicon Valley company (funded by Sequoia Capital) that ultimately grew into a thousand employee+ corporation all in less than a year as it was acquired for $180 million by Frontier Communications.
That experience and access to his new mentors/advisors, led Jesse to cofound along with his brother in 1998 one of the first U.S. online bilingual Latino communities (Picosito.com) which was recognized by a U.S. Congressional Record by the House of Representatives in 1999 for their efforts around technology in Latino Community. They raised $2.3 million in seed capital and had two acquisition offers in less than six months.
After the dot com era, Jesse went back to Corporate America; he has over 10 years in the BPM industry & has worked with industry leaders such as Xerox Global Services, IKON, & Kofax as a Business Development Manager.
Jesse is the Cofounder of AVION Ventures which is the 1st pre-accelerator focused on Latina women working on mobile ventures and based in San Francisco. His other personal passion is the Latino Startup Alliance, a non-profit supporting global Latino Tech Entrepreneurs and startup ecosystems where he serves as the Cofounder | Co-chair | CEO. Previously, he was the cofounder/COO of his third startup – Relevance, which took him to Brazil as the country director under the Startup Brasil Program.

Kevin has been perfecting his craft since 1998 as an expert consultant in three distinct areas, litigation, diversity, and business development with an emphasis of using social media. In legal, Kevin specializes in litigation, including technology (eDiscovery), legal graphics, and trial preparation. In diversity, Kevin organizes events and advises on recruitment and retention policies. Lastly, Kevin introduces products and services, generates content, and markets same to the legal industry via social media marketing. Kevin is affectionately known as the The Social Politician ™, where he creates the online presence of politicians and advises on branding, strategy, and messaging. Finally, he is the Executive Director of the African American Wellness Project, where he uses radio, television, and social media to empower African Americans to improve their health. His social networking prowess and capabilities have been featured on LinkedIn’s Hall of Fame, Yahoo’s Blog, in the Examiner, CNN Money, MarketWatch and the Wall Street Journal. Millions saw Kevin when for two years when he was featured on LinkedIn’s homepage.
Lakeisha Poole is an Employment Attorney based in Menlo Park, California. She’s passionate about helping start-up companies and small businesses create and retain great culture while ensuring legal compliance. Ms. Poole’s practice includes both litigation (trial) and non-litigation (advice) work. She represents a broad spectrum of clients, including consulting companies, start-ups, small business owners, non-profit organizations and individual employees at all levels. Ms. Poole handles a variety of employment law issues such has discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, leaves of absence, hiring and firing, non-competition, diversity and inclusion and independent contractor v. employee evaluation.
Ms. Poole is a graduate from Georgetown University Law Center and received her B.A. in Political Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
Laura fell in love with technology 20 years ago when she saw her first usability test. Since then, she’s been an engineer, designer, and product manager, helping companies of all sizes learn about their users so they can build better products.
She’s the author of UX for Lean Startups and a second book coming out in 2016 called Build Better Products. In her blog and podcast at Users Know she rants about product management, design, startups, and growth.
Learie Hercules is the founder of Octavia Technologies, a company that aims to collaboratively quantify the quality of wireless connectivity across every device and a Sr Technical Director of Big Data at a Top 5 telecom carrier. He oversees cloud platform technologies, roadmap and product innovation. He also helps startups incorporate Big Data (Analytics, Data Science, Infrastructure) in their overall growth strategy. He also speaks at conferences focused on emerging technologies such as Internet of Things (IoT). He currently serves on several technology and non-profit boards.

Lou Moore is VP Software at Jawbone where he leads software development for the Jawbone UP system. Prior to Jawbone, Lou was Director of Product Engineering at social networking startup hi5, and one of the earliest members of their engineering team. The process of fast-paced experimentation that fueled hi5’s growth developed into a passion for lean product development techniques that he continues to apply and evolve at Jawbone.
Mark is the VP of Product at Quri and was an early practitioner of Lean Start up methods at start ups and larger enterprises. He has held leadership positions in Product Development, Product Management and Marketing. He led product and marketing at Picturevision (acquired by Kodak $200M), Kodak Gallery/Ofoto and at Kodak.
While at Kodak, he developed innovative award winning digital cameras and software. At Kodak Gallery, he led the development and marketing for mobile applications. He has an MBA from the University of Rochester and a Mechanical and Ocean Engineering degree from the University of Rhode Island. Mark is an avid bike commuter and racer.
Nick is the CEO/Founder of Loot!, a mobile B2C marketing platform that helps brands engage and create content on social media at scale. He has worked with and sold to brands across the Fortune 500.
Prior to starting Loot! in 2012, Nick started a successful medical device company after cutting his sales teeth in medical device sales. He graduated from Emory University.
Phil Dillard is an entrepreneur and executive with experience in finance and strategy. A Philadelphia native, now living in San Francisco, Phil completed his BS in General Science, U.S. Naval Academy. After spending nearly 7 years on active duty with the US Navy, he completed MBA in Finance and Strategy at the Chicago Booth Business School. After several years as a corporate strategy consultant, manufacturing executive, and corporate strategy/innovation consultant, Phil embarked on his entrepreneurial career.
He leveraged his experience from multiple industries to launch a small wind CleanTech company, serve as an advisor to a BioPlastics company and lead as CFO of a marketing automation company. Currently, independent consultant and faculty of the Lean Startup Company, Phil helps early stage and growth companies develop and implement strategies and processes that provide a foundation for profitable growth. He is also an adjunct MBA professor of Negotiations and Entrepreneurship at Golden Gate University, adjunct professor of Finance at Palo Alto University, and a board member at CiviCorps in Oakland California.
Rajesh Setty is a serial entrepreneur, author and speaker based in Silicon Valley. His latest startup is Audvisor (www.audvisor.com). He has written and published 16 books so far with his first book being published when he was thirteen years old. His latest book is titled “Gratitude” (www.gratitude.pub). Shobana Radhakrishnan is Director of Engineering, Channel Store and Billing Systems at Roku and leads the team responsible for high scale platform development for these systems. Shobana is also the Founder and CEO of Tekspark, a non-profit organization focused on promoting STEM diversity. Prior to this, she was Vice President of Engineering at Mindflash Technologies Inc, a cloud-native learning management platform. She has also played various engineering leadership roles at Netflix, Yahoo, Symantec and [email protected] She is an active industry speaker and has a Master’s degree in Computer Science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

Thomas is a Corporate Business Development Manager at Twilio, a cloud communications as a service company. He focuses on partnerships, strategy and operating the TwilioFund. Prior to Twilio, Thomas ran numerous experiments and growth initiative at SAP.

Victoria Cameron is the principal of VRC Consulting, LLC, providing financial and QuickBooks consulting to small businesses. She particularly enjoys helping small businesses unleash the power of QuickBooks and integrated third-party solutions to run their business more effectively. She holds Advanced Certification in QuickBooks desktop and Online from Intuit, as well as certifications in Point of Sale and Enterprise Solutions, and is an Advanced Certified Method:CRM Solution provider. Victoria was named one of the top 100 ProAdvisors in 2015. In 2013, she joined forces with industry colleagues to co-found Cloud Consultancy LLC to develop custom solutions for automating business processes.
Recently, Cloud Consultancy launched Aero Workflow, an app for accounting firms to manage multiple recurring activities, clients and staff. Her background includes working as a CPA and Small Business Consultant with KPMG Peat Marwick, as well as CFO in start-up companies. She graduated from Stanford with a degree in Economics.
